The SAGA Core contains an advanced DMA controller which can perform fast I/O operations independent of the CPU.

Currently, it is used by the on-board Ethernet driver for the Vampire Standalone. In the future, it can be used for other I/O devices, such as IDE disks, if the appropriate drivers are written.

• Supports 64-bit reads.
• Supports full cache coherency. Data transfers automatically update all CPU caches.
